You have visited Bulgaria one or more times? You fall in love with the country ? You want to become a permanent resident or just buy a house or apartment? This article applies to you and gives you step by step, from our own experience-what to do to organize your stay.

STEP 1

Create a company (mandatory for resident card or buying a property)

• Contact a lawyer (see our lawyers list)
• Drafting of articles of association signed by the lawyer and then signature
• Signature and legalization of documents in front of a Notary with the presence of a certified translator for your language
• Opening a bank account to the company
• Registration in the commercial register by the lawyer
• Presentation of the Bulgarian professionnal number with your lawyer (from 2 to 5 days maximum)

STEP 2

Demand for a Permanent Resident Card (variable length: 1.5 to 10 years)

• Required parts : status of the company, passports, number of company, proof of payment of tax)
• You can get assistance from someone speaking Bulgarian (Cyrillic documents)
• Go to the immigration office (adjacent to the police in Varna - near bus station) See map below
• Filling the application forms
• Payment of fee from a bank (less than 20.00 euros). A bank is located close to the immigration office.
• Transmission of all documents to the immigration office
• Waiting time: 3 to 7 days
• Personal delivery against signature

ATTENTION FAMILIES !

If you have one or more children: Resident Card is compulsory for them as well regardless of age. Also, your family book or birth certificate is not enough. You must go first in a translation agency (see our translation agency) and ask for the legalization of the birth of your child at the embassy of your country. The agency takes care of everything and also transcribe the act in Cyrillic. Then you go before a notary with a certified translator for the accommodation certificate of the child in the parental home. For these two acts have less than 80.00 euros all inclusive.

BULGARIAN IDENTITY CARD

Since March 2010, you can, provided with Resident Card, 18 leva and a photo ID, ask for a Bulgarian identity card at the immigration office.
